About
Hi 👋, I’m Geert Vanderkelen. I live in Berlin and build software. I’m co-founder and CTO of Kelvin Green, where we build software that helps utilities make their district heating networks climate-neutral. That covers everything from planning the transition to optimizing how the heat plants run day to day. I’m responsible for the software, from data architecture to front-end, and for keeping our customers’ data safe.
Before Kelvin Green, I was engineering manager at Planetly and worked in cyber-security at DCSO. My roots are in databases: I joined MySQL AB in 2005 and stayed through the Sun and Oracle years. I spent more than seven years in MySQL Support, then moved to the engineering team, where I led development of MySQL Connector/Python and MySQL Router.
