Attending FOSDEM 2008

I think last time I attended FOSDEM it was not yet called like that.. was it 2001? Yeah, think so. Well, now 7 years later, I’m working for MySQL and I’m going back. Together with couple of other colleagues (Suzanne, Hartmut, Lenz, Jan, Roland, ..), we’re going to be hanging around, and hopefully meet new colleagues from Sun. I’m even invited for a dinner-meeting with some PostgreSQL dude! The session I’m most interested in is from Kris Buytaert, talking about MySQL Cluster and Drupal.

My next glasses from Theo!

Past weekend I went to Antwerpen (Belgium) with one of my best friends, checking out Theo glasses. We went actually to their offices, which I really wanted to see because it has a very nice painted wall (I met the artist that day!). The actual shop is located on the Eiermarkt (near the Hilton).. and I’m totally excited! I mean, Theo glasses! Belgian stuff The above picture is a screenshot from the Theo website (I hope they don’t mind hehe.

Where is Winter, oh, Winter where are you..

This picture was taken on the only snowy day we had so far during winter 2007-2008 in Aschaffenburg (Germany). Good I went out for a walk back then. It might be the only real winter experience we got here..

Moved from LiveJournal to Blogger

Just finished moving my blog entries from LiveJournal to Blogger.com. I wrote a small Python script to automate the process. It’s using FeedParser and Python GData client. If you’re interested, you can downloaded it here bloggerimporter.py .

Postfix, MySQL, DoveCot, Spamassassin, Sieve: YES!

This is more venting my frustration over installing Postfix on a new (xen)box (old 1U VALinux finally crashed, blablah..). I have been putting days, if not weeks into trying to figure out how to make Postfix with virtual users work together with Amavis and Spamassassin so it filters out to the Spam maildir of users. Now, some will say: oh, that’s peanuts. You take Courier’s Maildrop and off you go.. Maybe I’m stupid with this, maybe, but it took me far less headaches and an hour (+ burger + pint in the bar) to get Dovecot ‘deliver’ figured out with Sieve.
